PRIVACY & DATA

Privacy.

A clear, plain-language look at how we handle your data: what we keep, what we don’t, and how you can delete it.

In short: we don’t ask for your real email or phone number; you log in with the sotstech.com address we give you, a password you choose, and the code on screen.

What we keep

  • The login address we gave you and the password you chose. The password is not stored as plain text but irreversibly hashed; we can’t see it either. There is no password reset.
  • The name, school, department and country you enter at sign-up, and the fields on your CV. They are public once your CV is published. You can hide your CV from search engines; people with the link can still open it.
  • Gender is kept only for statistics; it is not shown on your CV.
  • Your CV’s view count and daily totals for the last 14 days. Only numbers are kept; who looked is not recorded.
  • If someone reports your CV, the reason they chose and their short note. No identifying information about the reporter is kept.

What is stored in your browser

  • “Remember me” cookie: if you tick it at login, that device is remembered for 30 days. The cookie only identifies that device; the server keeps only a hash of it. Logging out deletes it.
  • Draft: what you type in the editor is kept only in this browser so a page reload doesn’t lose it; it is never sent to the server. It is deleted when you save or log out.
  • Your language choice and whether you have seen the privacy notice.

What we don’t keep

  • No real email, phone, location or ad trackers.
  • To stop abuse (mass sign-ups, password/code guessing, report flooding), an irreversible hash of your IP address is kept for a few minutes up to an hour, then deleted.

Inappropriate content

Every CV page has a “Report” button. Reported CVs are reviewed by the admin; those that break the rules can be taken down.

If you lose your address or password

Because we keep no other way to recognise you and there is no password reset, we can’t recover the account. Keep your address and password somewhere safe; we recommend taking a screenshot and downloading the card after signing up.

If you want to delete

Log in and use the “Delete my account and CV” section at the bottom of the My CV page. Your data is deleted permanently.

Companies

When you apply to a company, your CV (name, school, department, country, gender and CV content) can be viewed, filtered and exported to Excel/CSV only by that company’s staff, after they have been approved by an administrator. You can withdraw your application from the “Companies” page at any time; if you delete your account, your applications are deleted too.
