About Sotstech

How it started

Sotstech was founded by young people with big imaginations and goals. We have been working in science for over twenty years; we started with algorithms that analyze scientific data and mathematics projects.

After 2014 we learned software, and the question came up: why not combine science with software? We used our own software in our projects. After a while, hardware got involved too. Today we bring science, software and hardware together in the same project. Along the way we've put our name on multiple projects across science, mathematics, agriculture, mapping and image processing — a weather map running on our own hardware data, remote-controlled smart farming systems, an advanced calculator called MathPath Console, and a remote-controlled vehicle with image processing, to name just a few. Alongside these we've also built apps, websites and games.

We only take on a job if we can build it start to finish. Leaving the in-between piece to someone else is often the most fragile part of a project.

How we work

First we write down what we're solving in a single sentence. If that sentence isn't clear, we don't start designing. Then we build the smallest working version: we try the software with real users, and the hardware on real devices in real environments. Release, updates and maintenance are part of it too — whether it's an app, a website or a device, we don't just hand it off and walk away.

Transparency

The source code and hardware schematics for some of our projects are open. If you bought a device, we believe you should be able to build it yourself too.
